Saturday September 7th News, update!!

What a day we have had thanks to our fantastic horse Platinum, and a great ride from Russ Kennemore, and many thanks to everyone who has texted and emails your congrats, we really appreciate all your kind words

Platinum is on his way home with us in the box and seems to know he has been a good boy. he is sounder than I am after enduring the day in high heels, I even managed to wash him off while teetering about in them!  Next stop providing he is okay will be the Caesarawitch in early October, he will have an easy week at Castleton first though, very well earned. Just look at the trophy he won! Sadly we were not allowed to take it home!!

The 2 fillies that ran at Thirsk are fine, it was a pleasing run first time out from Lady Heidi.

Earlier News…..

On our way to Haydock… nice to see Tropical Beat has been made a non runner.  Here is my lovely horse in the waggon, he is such a good traveller,

The forecast has changed and thankfully it is not going to be as wet as predicted today, maybe I wont need an umbrella! We have runners at Haydock and Thirsk;  Platinum, Lady Heidi and Jamesbo’s Girl. The latter was running well last season off marks of 75 and 80 – she is still higher than her last winning mark but hopefully the move has refreshed her and she goes with enthusiasm at home. THis is a competitive race for a decent prize – a good one to win.  Good luck to ‘Hardisty Rolls’ who own her  and the lovely unraced filly ‘Lady Heidi’ who makes her debut in the 2nd divison of the maiden on the same card, she is very nicely bred and pleases Phil in her homework.

ponies, dogs, kids, platinum 033Platinum will have to contend with soft ground today, sadly it looks as though many of his rivals prefer it – would have been nice if they didn’t go on it! One of the favs ‘Semeen’; is out though, one less to worry about. We will be happy for a good run, its fantastic that he looks to have a competitive chance in such a race, more than we could ever have imagined, so we will go and enjoy it and see what happens.  he has won on soft (Catterick) so it shouldn’t inconvenience him, although his most impressive wins have been on quick ground.

Here is a short video of him at the Open day being led by Sarah Olley.

Also a video of the very handsome ‘Stopped Out’ with Eva Moscrop leading – strutting his stuff to some funky disco music!

We didn’t get on the scoreboard yesterday , Genax ran adequately in the maiden, just fading a bit on the tiring ground before the finish and she is just a bit weak at present although a nice filly when she strengthens up.  Mysterious Wonder again flattered to deceive, travelling well but not really finding when the button is pressed. pretty frustrating but they all have their own ideas. Not much better with the two at Sedgefield the previous day – Sakhee’s Romance ran very green on her first attempt over hurdles and Joeluke faded after showing up well for a long way – this was his last chance as a racehorse and he is going to a new home to try and become a riding horse.  he is a pretty sharp character so we hope he settles down to his new job.
