Saturday at Wetherby

We have two young mares running today in the Wetherby bumper, both of whom we see as future chasers & this is very much ’work in progress’ for them as learn to become racehorses. Martalindy Runs for The Phillip Kirby Racing Club and she will have a good crowd there to support her today. Our other runner is ‘Big Ears’, this is her first run for a year following a setback after Newcastle. She is a big strong Yeats mare, we can’t wait to see her jump a fence.

We’ve had a lot of horses hit the crossbar recently while running well, and yesterday was no exception with a double of seconds at Sedgfield. BTO winner for Katie, ‘ En Meme Temps’ was a solid second in the novice handicap Chase, and ‘Ravenscar’ was a fast finishing second in the 2m mares hurdle. There was disappointment from ‘Hidden Commander’ who didn’t travel in the tacky ground. ‘Zwicky’ was a respectable 4th in the bumper & will now go novice hurdling . The previous day at Catterick we had new horse ‘Classic Escape’ a decent run for 4th in the North Yorkshire Grand National, and both ‘Bee the Difference’ & ‘Diakosaint’ 3rd over hurdles. The prize money on offer at both meetings has been very good & a welcome change.
