Saturday at Wetherby and Lady B tribute videos

Lady Buttons & Katie at Wetherby

This time last year we were so excited to be taking Lady Buttons & Top Ville Ben to Wetherby for the OLBG Mares hurdle & The Charlie Hall Chase…. this time we have Lady B retired and dreaming of her future husband and Ben on the easy list as he recovers from a setback. Racing is full of ups and downs, and while you must look forward and not dwell on what ‘might have been’ there is no harm in reliving the memories and what memories Lady Buttons has left us with! She had the most incredible career – 12 wins for Adam Nicol, 2 for Tommy Dowson and the final win was for Sean Quinlan – fittingly at another of her favourite Yorkshire tracks – Doncaster.  It was so disappointing for Adam when Injury prevented him from riding her the last couple of times but his comeback from serious injury in 2019 and their win here at Wetherby last season was a massive day  and a huge personal goal achieved for him.  Adam has also since retired & we wish him the very best of luck as he plans to set out on his Training Career.

Taking rather longer than I anticipated to make, Parts 1 & 2 are here now, Part 3 by this evening on this special day she made her own at Wetherby, winning the last 2 Mares Listed hurdle events following her close 2nd to Le Bague Au Roi in 2017.

Today at Wetherby we can look forward to a different team lining up – the young mare ‘Robincolette’, the experienced duo ‘Sakhee’s City’ and ‘Niven’ and at Wolverhampton this evening, ‘Madeeh’ on the flat. There will be mixed emotions as we watch the Mares Listed race as we were sad to see Desaray Girl leave us after such a promising career start but we wish her well and a safe return today. Good luck to all our Owners with runners and we hope you have an exciting day at the races 🍀🐎
