Tuesday’s news – and our recent winner
* Please can all Owners note that Pippa’s email has been down for a week ( apple locked !) and should be back on by noon today 🤞🏻. Apologies.
It’s been a blustery few days here at the yard and it was absolutely freezing last night with the wind chill factor….definitely gloves and bobble hat weather for our team today. It won’t show how cold it was on the tv cameras yesterday but it was blowing a real gale up the gallop and in the schooling field…a real task for the Racing UK camera men. They were filming all morning and we are looking forward to seeing the finished piece which may be on next Wednesday.
We celebrated a winner on Friday evening courtesy of SIENA MIA at Newcastle, breaking her maiden tag in the fillies handicap in fine style for Owners Heather & Franko Calzini. Siena is their homebred so this was particularly pleasing, and we are sure she can go on from this, she is a likeable filly with a good attitude. Her winning video….
Saturday saw runners at Wetherby & Musselburgh. It wasn’t the most successful of days and reminded us that things don’t always go to plan, but LITTLE BRUCE still ran a brave race under top weight in the Edinburgh National for 4th – it was always going to be a huge ask under 11 stone 10lbs in tacky ground. All the weekend runners are fine.
Meg & Henry took Wemyss Point & the retired Nautical Nitwit to the beach on Sunday and the horses has a great time. Wemyss has had a stop start season but he’ll be ready for action over hurdles once we get some drier ground.
Today we have three runners – Bertie Blake, Sincerely Resdev & Ice Galley at Sedgefield & Market Rasen. This is likely to be Ice Galley’s final run of his career unless he puts in a spectacular effort! He has a lovely home waiting to head to with the Sivills family. He is ridden today by Will Shanahan, claiming 7, and Ice Galley has shown winning form at the track last season.
Bertie Blake is back to the scene of his recent win, and we’ll all be hoping that he can back up that superb effort over course & distance. It’s quite a warm race for the grade and he’s current second favourite at 3-1. He runs in the first division and the jet black ‘Sincerely Resdev’ runs in the second division – he ran his best race over hurdles last time out for Tommy, and he rides both our Sedgefield runners again today.
Today sees a new arrival in the shape of a ‘Fast Company’ 2 year old arriving from a winning family. We already have the 2 colts by War Command & Charming Thought in training, it will be good to add another to the bunch.
Some photos from the past couple of days…
