What a weekend! Videos added

Capturing headlines again…

It’s been a busy 2 days & late as this post is, we wanted to report on what has been an amazing weekend –  we can now bring you some of the photos And videos from our two days at Doncaster, Cheltenham & Sedgefield.

Lady Buttons… words can’t  adequately describe the emotions on Saturday for ourselves, her Owners, Sean  & our team  as she surged past the younger mares after jumping the last. Putting daylight between herself & her rivals despite giving weight away, Lady B was absolutely awesome in the manner of her victory, one of her most impressive yet in this Grade 2 event. It was a tremendous race, and one which developed into a sprint after the last, the slow early pace resulting in 4 mares coming to the final hurdle together….and after Sean said ‘go’ there was only going to be one winner. This was a massive thrill for Sean on his first race ride on her, and he timed  it to perfection, knowing her well enough to have faith in her ability  to quicken past her rivals. She needs to be played late and that suited her perfectly.

4 mares in contention after the last

Jayne & Keith her Owners were blown away with her performance yet again, and if Luke Harvey mistook Phil’s Dad Geoff for Keith, it made for a brilliant post race interview anyway! Luke is a massive fan himself and labelled the race day ‘Lady Buttons’ day at Doncaster well before the days racing started… he was spot on.

Pure emotion and excitement from our children !

Just moments before Buttons race we had a nerve wracking few minutes watching our superstar staying chaser, TOP VILLE BEN in action on the big screen at Cheltenham.  While not able to match the finishing kick of Santini & Bristol de Mai ( who made him look quite petite, 2 big horses that they are), Ben still ran a massive race in this Grade 2 event, finishing an honourable 3rd after a top ride from Tommy, jumping well and sticking on dourly up the hill. We were sent these photos from well wishers, thankyou!

The excitement hadn’t finished there! EN MEME TEMPS who was running in the final race on the Cheltenham card ran an absolute stormer for Hope Eden Racing to finish 3rd.

He may just creep into the bottom of the weights for The Martin Pipe race at the festival. This was only his second run of the season and what a good effort from a horse who should make up into an exciting chaser in time.

Suggestion

Fille d’Avignon

Our other two horses on the day finished safely, SUGGESTION & FILLE D’AVIGNON , and with another Grade 2 to add to our winners board, we could then go home and celebrate with a curry from the local takeaway….a couple of bottles of champagne were cracked open too 😁

Party Green Oaks style

There is never a sleep in at our house on a Sunday, horses to feed, ponies to muck out and runners to send to Sedgefield! We had one of our shortest priced favourites EVER in DESARAY GIRL who eventually went off 1-8 fav for Danny McMenamin who claimed 5lbs off, a good move from Phil to counteract part of the double penalty she carried. Apart from a waver at the first and a novicey jump at the last,  the result never looked in danger… and Resdev Ltd’s dashing grey mare won as she liked, hard held. Plans for her a fluid at present and she has a number of Listed options.

Nicely Indeed could only finish mid field in the 0-110 handicap but we were pleased with SINCERELY RESDEV who came 3rd in the last, staying on well on ground that has become pretty cut up. All horses  back safely again and it’ fair to say it’s been a pretty good weekend for us all here 🙃🍾🥂
