We enjoyed an exciting 1,2 in the bumper at our local track yesterday – The Well Oiled P’ships ‘Pennine Cross’ & Tom just getting the better of the year older ‘Show Promise’ for Tommy & The PKR P’ship – ‘Fabrication’ mid field and will enjoy better ground in the Spring. Tom couldn’t have been more delighted to get off the mark on a horse he rides plenty at home and whom he has built up a good partnership with. We bought ‘Gary’ as a foal and it’s very satisfying to see this son of the top mare, Gaspara, go on and Fulfil his potential on his second start. Show Promise ( Joss) was bred by us, and we were very proud of his battling second – a trio of seconds now in bumpers and it takes a good, honest young horse to run to such a standard three times – yesterday was his belated seasonal reappearance. Why on earth he was 14-1 and 16-1 before the off when he was 4-1 on the morning and had such strong form – it’s a mystery – but we fancied him to run a big race and he did.
Some photos from the paddock….
Interestingly, these young boys are best friends and live together in our loose barn with other friend ‘Lord Rococco’ – they have all grown up together and share from the same feed bowls and haylage feeder. They roam around during the day, sleep side by side at night and have a great, natural life for racehorses. Joss is the boss, and we wonder what he made of his year younger friend daring to go past him just by the post!
Earlier on we had two further homebreds, My Strong Man & Fasterkhani contesting the Juvenile Hurdle. Both horses ran with credit and will be seen to better effect once able to contest novice handicaps.
All our 5 runners were presented beautifully and were a credit to our team & Sponsors, TopSpec 💚💛 Fabrication won best turned out.
