Weekend News

Nick & Red Dragoness

This young filly is about to make her bumper debut at Aintree this afternoon – it’s a learning curve and a stepping stone to a fillies Juvenile at Wetherby next month. She’ll learn plenty from it and hopefully show us some promise. Good luck to RED DRAGONESS & Adam Nicol.

Later this evening we have SHINE BABY SHINE & THE RESDEV WAY both in the 2m handicap at Southwell. Both are more than capable of winning but Nick Barrett-Atkin will be hoping he is on the right one as he has had a number of seconds to date in his young career as an Apprentice. We wish both horses & their connections the best of luck and hoping for a 1,2 result…🍀🤞🏻

For a welcome change it was a beautiful morning at the yard and I took these photos of ‘Whoshotthesherrif’ and ‘Big Ears’ on first lot.

Big Ears

Photographer Phill Andrews was making one of his regular visits today and we can’t wait to post his photos which are always interesting and stunningly shot.

On Thursday we saw some promising runs from GORDALAN and L’ATTENDUE at Sedgefield. It’s not always about the winning and these were good efforts that signalled possible future winners for our Team. Gordalan kept on all the way to the line for Tommy in the Juvenile hurdle – a fast finishing 3rd and really pleasing that he jumped well as Tommy has done a lot of schooling on him at home – he was slow to learn but the hard work over poles in the arena, down the jumping lane  and even over the chase fences has paid off.

Gordalan in 3rd

L’attendue was making her seasonal reappearance and made most for Tommy, just headed before the last but keeping on gamely for 3rd. This big Oscar mare  is heading over fences in the near future.
