Catterick winner & Monday news

Gordalan ends a frustrating placed spell for our yard

It was fitting that we had a welcome winner at Catterick on Saturday and very pleasing to see the 3 year old ‘Gordalan’ respond so well to a first time visor for Apprentice jockey, Zak Wheatley. Gordalan travelled with almost too much zest but he built up a commanding lead and it’s a dangerous track to allow a lightly weighted front runner a big advantage.

Gordalan with a long lead in the home straight

Never looking likely to get caught, he looks an ideal Juvenile hurdling type when he’s ready to jump a hurdle in public and there’ll be plenty of schooling going on for him at home.

The handsome head of Juvenile hurdle prospect, Gordalan.

Gordalan had  an easy Sunday but was back to the day job this morning and is none the worse for his exertions.

Another horse to advertise his juvenile hurdle potential was the Fast Company 3 year old, ‘Fasterkhani’ who led his division of the staying handicap and only gave best in the final furlong, keeping on for 3rd just behind stablemate and winning hurdler,  ‘Lady Kyria’ who ran a cracker in 2nd for Hope Eden Racing. Both seemed to handle the ground well.

Fasterkhani is the first foal of Musikhani who was bred by ourselves & Ace Bloodstock and we hope he can become Musikhani’s first winner – this was a promising effort after a break to mature. He is a half brother to ‘Monty’ this year’s colt foal by Mondialiste.

Musikhani & Monty – he is getting weaned this week!

We had no runners today but the Horseboxes were kept busy, first lot taking a quartet for an outside gallop to Middleham and after racing we took 5 to gallop at Pontefract. Sandwiched  in between riding 5 lots out at home by our hardworking team!

Nemean Lion who we are pleased to say went to a fantastic Eventing home with Grace today – we’re looking forward to hearing of his progress.

And finally….Indy (10) had an exciting time at the STARS champions show at Aintree this weekend, coming 5th on Brandy who at 23 was perhaps 4 x older than some of the ponies he was competing against. Competition was hot and Indy loved riding up the famous canter track in front of the stands to get to the new Aintree Equestrian Arena.

The famous track….
