Sunday’s News & Winner!

What a way to make a comeback – Tommy Dowson  rode a great race on Suggestion yesterday – and was straight back into the winners enclosure on his first ride for 2.5 months. Sitting handy throughout, a couple of bold leaps at the last 2 hurdles gave him the momentum to go on and win his race, powering up the run in to see out every yard of the 2m trip on rain softened ground, and making it another super Saturday for Team PKR.

Suggestion hurdling well

Judged on this performance he could step up a little on distance without any bother, and we’ve found the key up him now with these flat galloping tracks. Tommy was of course deputising for Adam Nicol whose family own part of Suggestion with Red Cap Racing, but is on the sidelines with a broken leg. It will have been hard to watch but Adam will have been delighted his horse ran so well and he can  look forward to reuniting with him in the Spring. Here is the video of the closing stages…

We also had our high class staying handicap chaser, Courtown Oscar making his comeback after a year off, and although he predictably tired late on, he enjoyed himself up front in the 3mile hurdle with some big leaps and most importantly Sean Quinlan looked after him when his chance had gone. The legs are in good shape today and every road now points to the Eider Chase at Newcastle in late February.

Thanks to one of our Owners  Beth Hutchinson for being our roving photographer at Haydock!

Today we have 2 at Ayr- Adelphi Prince who runs in the maiden hurdle and is looking for a good clear round and signs of promise for the future, it looks an impossible race to win unless you have pretensions to being a 130 Novice. To round off the card we have ‘Northern Girl’  for Ownaracehorse & The Topspec Partnership. She has a live each way chance in this Mares 2m 5f Hurdle and has shown previous placed form at the track. ‘Janey’ as she is known at home, will have plenty of her Owners in attendance today and we would love her to break her overdue maiden tag as she is more than capable.
