Thursday’s News – Winner & videos

First 2019 win on the board…After a series of near misses and some placed efforts from Magellan and Jaycol’s Star at Doncaster earlier yesterday, we saved the best till last with a tenacious effort from Cara’s Way ridden by Sean Quinlan. Making her debut for us after previously being with Gordon Elliott, Sean gave the mare a lovely ride as she made a mistake before the home bend and he gave her plenty of time to find her feet and get back into a challenging position. Coming to the last you could see she was starting to assert, and this win on a Grade 1 track makes her a valuable breeding prospect  being by the legendary sire, Robin des Champs. She may or may not see the racecourse again, as the paddocks could now beckon.

There was some very kind praise from Luke Harvey on Attheraces in the post race review – although I am nor sure Phil will ever let us forget Luke’s choice of words! Watch the video below and I am sure it will make you laugh to hear Phil with daughter Indy adding to the commentary…

The previous day at Ayr we had Lady Kyria going off second favourite in the mares novice but a very unlucky slip on the home bend put paid to her winning chance. She kept going for 3rd but returned with a nasty cut that required stapling.

Today we are staying local…

Its a hard ask for bold jumping ‘Little Bruce’ today in this 0-140 marathon contest but he and Nathan will give it their best shot and he prefers a small field so he takes his chance and goes there with a nice weight of 10 stone 5lbs. Bruce has never been this far in a race but we have always thought of him as a strong stayer. He’s a real favourite of mine and we all hope he comes back safely and runs a big race for his Owners and our hardworking Team.

There has been some stunning sunrise mornings at the yard this last week and we hope you enjoy this video and selection of photos. Over the next few days we will also be looking ahead to some of our big Spring targets…
