We have four runners today, Bohernagore & Pumaflor at Huntingdon and Jaycol’s Star & Mr Carbonator in the same race at Leicester.
Phil has headed off early for the long trip down to Huntingdon with Bohernagore in the 2:20 and Pumaflor in the 3:20.
Bohernagore didn’t get the easy lead he enjoys on his last outing at Kelso and although didn’t really seem unsettled, the race was a little messy and he got a little squeezed up by a loose horse at one point too, which he wouldn’t have been terribly happy about. Unfortunately his usual jockey Adam Nicol is on the sidelines with a neck issue, so Tommy Dowson has stepped in to take the ride. Hopefully he will get a better chance today for owners Surefire Racing.
Pumaflor is having his first go over hurdles since joining us. He has had one previous run over hurdles back in Nov ’15 at Wetherby but the ground was heavy and we think he will much prefer the decent good ground at Huntingdon today. Tommy Dowson takes the ride for owners Resdev.
Julie and Katie have taken Jaycol’s Star and Mr Carbonator off to Leicester, both in the 4:30.
Kevin Stott rides Jaycol who seems to be taking his time to mature mentally, but he will hopefully come on with more runs and get the hang of his job given time. Good luck to owners Keith & Jayne Sivill’s and Colin Fletcher.
Mr Carbonator has had a short break since his last run but is refreshed and ready to go again now with Jimmy Quinn taking the ride today who gets on with him well, having had 2 very close finishes at Beverley and Nottingham. Best of luck to owners Alan Fairhurst and Peter Sharp.
We wish all our runners and owners good luck, and come home safe and sound.
We have a very busy day ahead tomorrow with 5 runners all at Wetherby, We have Mangata making his exciting debut over hurdles for The Philip Kirby Racing P’ship, along with the gutsy Nautical Nitwit, Minstrel Royal, Sakhee’s City and Top Ville Ben.
