We had just the one runner tonight, What’s Up Walter who made a satisfactory return to the track in the 7.55 at Hamilton, not placed but passing horses at the line and going the right way. Our next runners will be At York and Hexham on Saturday – Fingal’s Cave at York making a swift reappearance while in such good form with himself – he is to be joined in the horsebox by Arabian Oasis, Jo Ford’s mount for the Macmillan Charity race which rounds off the card. Up at Hexham we have War Joey making his debut over hurdles & newcomer Canford Chimes entered in the bumper. Tommy was schooling War Joey this morning and he is learning his job nicely but his ultimate future lies over the bigger obstacles.
Some photos from the gallops…
One of our favourite horses Man in Black was retired last week and he went off to his new home today with Liz in Scotland who also has Next Edition. We know he is off to a wonderful life and hope he settles well to their job. He retired sound but was of limited ability and the decision was made to give him a change of career.
Yesterday it was a date with the Goffs inspectors for the yearlings, and they mostly behaved pretty well as they were walked up and down under close scrutiny. They have been in on a night eating hard food and practising walking in hand, and they are changing rapidly every day.
The sun is just going down at Green Oaks, and its been good to see Helen Wood’s Martaline filly (frenchy) playing with Lady Chloe’s Presenting filly ‘Princess’ , their first day out together. Helen Wood arrived back last night from Yorton Stud where she has been scanned in foal to Blue Bresil. Helen has never looked better and we let Yorton know how much we appreciated our mare being so well looked after while away – you will see how well they look on this short video –
