We are not in the habit of wanting to lose exciting young horses and in Wemyss Point we have a very smart well bred 4 year old who was 2nd on his first bumper start at Musselburgh.  The winner, Sergio  had been 2nd on its debut at Uttoxeter: Wemyss was closing rapidly at the line and we were thrilled with this performance as he had been green throughout the race and felt he would come on for it. The winner is entered at Ascot on the weekend – and the horse he beat into 3rd at Uttoxeter has since come out and been 5th in a big field  Grade 1 at Cheltenham.

Racing Post Report:

SENATUS, who displayed plenty of promise on his debut in May, is a fine looker and was ridden by a jockey now more associated with the Flat. Keen from the start, he looked in a bit of trouble in the home straight for a few strides but kept going and won by a clear margin. He has a nice future and could probably run on the Flat as well.

Wemyss Point attracted market interest at long prices, and kept on really well to sneak into second. He has a nice Flat pedigree, so could pick up something similar if at least maintaining this level.

QUOTES We rate Senatus highly and if we can keep the lid on him he is an exciting prospect when the time comes for him to go hurdling – Karen McLintock, trainer.

Racing Post Report:
We have had a outside offer for Wemyss, and as with all Trainers, if you own them yourself they have to wemyss lead smallgo as its financially not the answer to own horses yourself. However, we have offered our existing Owners a new Partnership in him last night, and if you haven’t yet seen your email or you are a potential new Owner who would like an excellent value new share for 2017 …please do get in touch this morning.

The shares have been split 20 ways, but more than one share could be purchased. Its £900 for the purchase share with him plus 4 payments by Direct debit of £200 at the end of January/March/May and July to spread the cost of training. This is excellent value for a young well bred bumper horse, and as you can see we are loathe to sell him hence the potential creation of this Partnership.. You are not ‘tied in to ownership’ – this Partnership is an all in cost of £900 + the payments of £800 through the year, nothing else to pay. On January 1st 2018 you decide if you want to stay in or opt out. You recieve your share of any prize money he has won during the period + if leaving, 5% of his current value.

As an Owner with us you can visit him as much as you would like – and we hope in Wemyss we have an exciting hurdle prospect for the future who could also run on the flat as he is so nicely bred.

Wemyss will be ready to run – and try to win – his second bumper in January (ground permitting)
