Saturday winner

imageOn a day when racing paled into the background of a dreadful tragedy in France, our old boy ‘ Call it On’ made us proud Owners yet again for win no. 4 this season. Adam really got a tune out of him halfway down the back after not travelling early on, and then once hitting the front Colin was not to be denied, sticking his chestnut head out all the way to the line in ground he found very testing. Its a great team effort to see this old horse keep winning after more than a year off with a tendon strain, and its results like this that really make us smile. particular well done to Adam who rode a DOUBLE on the card as well.

Colin has more than earned a winter break and he will be coming back to Castleton in the next few days. Mike Dunn from Ownaracehorse sent me these super photos below, its absolutely typical that the only time i have managed to watch him at the races in his last four starts was at York when he was beaten. Today I had a childrens party that could not be missed and i had to dash into a Corals at Acklam to watch the race, the regulars in there must have wondered who the madwoman was  getting so excited and riding a finish.

For once the Racing Post called it ‘ competitive’ in their analysis, we have a standing joke in our house that they usually describe any of the races we win as ‘ moderate contests’  ‘ uncompetitive affairs’ or ‘ a weak race for the Grade ‘ ! Amazing though how our horses seem to take such hikes in the handicap for winning  them.
