Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Wednesday’s News

We are having a quiet week at both yards with no entries bar Mr Chuckles at Musselburgh on Friday. However, its really busy at Sharp Hill with almost every horse in work apart from the youngsters in the fields, and some new ones in work too.

Phil purchased a Godolphin trained Monsun 3 year old last week at DBS, he is called ‘Keep Up’ and he hasn’t been doing so to great effect yet on the track but he is a gorgeous horse and the Monsun’s often need more time. He schooled well yesterday for Phil and expect to see him out at the races soon on some soft ground. He reminds us very much of the lovely Andorn that won 7 races for us, also by Monsun. Phil says its just like sitting on him. Fifty percent has been sold, we have half of him for sale and he looks a very nice juvenile hurdle prospect who already shows a real natural talent for jumping. Photo of him to be uploaded later.

Improved did not make the reserve we wanted in the ring at DBS but we have also since sold half of him to remain in the yard, which is very pleasing. ‘Prince’ is back in work and celebrated by bucking Phil off two days ago. He will be aimed at another bumper, he also schooled over tyres yesterday.

There has been plenty of schooling of other horses going on: Dibble Bridge, Bruce Almighty, Stenna and Bold Henmie yesterday. We are also really pleased with the Yeats 3 year old gelding for sale, he is now sat on by Lauren and ridden away and he is being an absolute star, its as if he has done it all before.
