A Busy week ahead
We have plenty of entries this coming week – so far all bar Thursday is a racing day, which couldn’t have worked out better as its a big day at the Great Yorkshire Show and our daughter Izzy may make her shetland Grand National debut there in the main ring, she is seen here practising on Saturday which she has never stopped talking about! Both our daughters are also showing their ponies and looking forward to an exciting day off school!
Tomorrow sees the Dibble Bridge Partnership’s ‘Next Edition’ make his seasonal debut at Wetherby over 1m 2f. We will need the rain to come (as forecast) as we wouldnt want to run him on good to firm but a wet morning is being predicted in Yorkshire. We have many of his Owners going and looking forward to meeting top jockey Tom Queally who will be in the plate tomorrow. Eddie is pictured below with Ross Turner this morning who took him for a canter to keep him in good shape, no days off on Sunday for runners during next week!
On Tuesday its our own ‘ Call it On’ at Thirsk, and he will be fine with the predicted rain , any ease in the
ground will be to his advantage. There are only 8 runners and he will stay every inch of the 2 mile trip – can Colin get his head in front at one of our most local tracks? he must have a great chance following his good second at Wolverhampton recently.
Wednesday sees another of our own horses ‘Improved’ contest his first ever race – a maiden ‘newcomers’ bumper at Uttoxeter, and he will be joined by the ‘bred in the purple’ See the Stars’ gelding, ‘Nabateo’. Both horses go well and Improved (Prince) certainly has ‘improved’ out of all recognition in his recent work – he was well named but lets hope he can transfer it to the track. Nabateo is a really good looking sort who would have more speed than the NH bred ‘Improved’ at home. There are only 12 entries in this summer bumper, lets hope only half of them declare, the fewer the better!
We have some really lovely bumper prospects for the new NH season – The Kayf tara mare ‘Tara Time’ , The Old Vic mare, ‘Vic’s last Stand’, the Flemensfirth filly, ‘Arco’ the ‘Lucarno’ gelding ‘Montythedarkdestroyer’ (what a name!) , the newly purchased Champs Elsysses colt, and this gorgeous looking Oscar filly bought at the derby sale in Ireland. Oscar really stamps his stock and this mare has a black type pedigree. She can be bought privately from Castleton Bloodstock and is currently being broken in.
