Its a big day for us on both sides of the Irish Sea today, Phil’s sister Helen is getting married in Ireland ( congratulations to her and Ali) – and on the racing front we are looking to the reappearance of multiple winner, Rumble of Thunder and the exciting novice handicapper, Hail the Brave at Wetherby.
Rumble of Thunder last ran at Wolverhampton SEVEN years ago as a two year old when he finished second. He is vastly up in trip today, running over 2 miles, and this is his first run since an eight month break, Joey Haynes rides.. His next run may be in France as some of his Owners live in Geneva and it will be interesting seeing him run over hurdles for
some good prize money. Another horse who we will see in France shortly will be Aniknam who holds an entry at Auteil next Friday and he will also get an entry at Lion d’Angers the following week. He will take up the best opportunity on soft ground and seems really well in himself after his recent Hexham second.
Hail the Brave is pleasing Phil at home and is maturing into a fine looking horse whose future will eventually lie over fences. This however, is a nasty looking race with a whole host of horses with chances, and he is up 10lb since his last win. Cautiously optimistic would be our thought today, and the betting will no doubt indicate the competitiveness of the race. He has the very able assistance of Sam Twiston Davies in the saddle. Good luck to our Owners involved and we look forward to some good photos from Wetherby as one of HTB’s Owners is Keith Foster, photographer.
We are still waiting for Helen Wood to foal, 12 days overdue now….i wonder if Royalty will beat her to it, she is due to foal in just three days We have also now decided that Lady Chapp will now be covered by Presenting at Rathbarry Stud, their union is imminent!
Stopped Out is enjoying a weeks holiday at Castleton, he has been out in the paddocks every day, and we have had some really dry weather recently ( until yesterday) so the fields are in good shape.
Stenna is now on his holidays too but he is still hacking out, and Carl took this photo from his back earlier in the week, a lovely view of Castleton’s valley.
We would like to thank Stacey for sending in this fabalous photo of herself with re-trained racehorse , and multiple winner ‘Royal Entourage’ formally owned by Keith and Jayne Sivills. Roger was always a real gentleman and is now a very elegant show horse with a long future in this sphere, we love these happy success stories.
