Thursday’s News
Its a snowy scene at Castleton this morning but apparently rain is on it’s way and the temperatures are creeping up. It’s looking good for some racing getting back on and Birthday Guest should be fine for Newcastle tomorrow, he has had a few of his recent engagements abandoned.
Gary Whillans, northern flat jockey is riding out at the yard this morning, he is going to be coming in a couple of times a week, and he has ridden winners for us in the past. We
also have two more exciting pieces of news regards members of staff, Our travelling Head Girl Julie has confirmed she is joining us at Groundhills a farm when we move. Julie does a first rate job, driving, turning them out at the races and also back at the yard and we didn’t fancy trying to replace her. On the conditional jockey front we have Hugo Thompson-Brown joining us next week from John Fergusons. Hugo is a talented young rider who has come up through
ponies and point to pointers, he is taking his conditional course next week before he joins us. He will be able to claim 10lb for us in conditional races, and will replace the excellent Phillip Dennis who has gone to become a flat jockey at Michael Dodds. This means we have a strong team to call on, The vastly experienced James Reveley, Adam Nicol (3lb) who has ridden tons of winners for us, young amateur Ross Turner who rides our own Chloe’s Image next week on the flat at Wolverhampton, and now Hugo claiming 10lb. We are really looking forward to a good year.
