Happy Christmas – Hope you have all had a relaxing day and thoroughly read your Racing Posts  ahead of a bumper card tomorrow with meetings all over the place. We have runners at Sedgefield  and Wetherby – and all three have sound each way chances on competitive cards.

Hail the Brave steps up in trip for his handicap debut. Its a tricky looking race with several unexposed sorts, ours has schooled well and has James Reveley in the plate for the first time, we will be hoping the extra distance can bring about the necessary improvement to see him in the shake up. Not far up the road at Sedgefield we have Istimraar in the 2m 4f handicap – another stepping up in trip and with his 3 year old allowance he gets into this off bottom weight. He ran a close 3rd at W’hampton last time off 78 on the flat and his jumping has been improving with every race over hurdles. Adam Nicol won’t have been having too much Christmas dinner claiming 3lbs off the ten stone bottom weight. Our final runner of the day, Bedale Lane, takes on the geldings in the bumper and  the extra furlong here should help as she looks a staying prospect the way she has ran on in both her starts so far. Phillip Dennis rides and is her regular pilot, claiming 7lbs tomorrow.

Christmas day is work as usual for at least half of our team at both Middleham and Castleton – all the horses still have to be fed, mucked out and on the walker, turned out or ridden according to their forthcoming engagements – and Boxing Day its back to normal work for all in the Racing Industry. We would like to say a huge  thank you to all our team for their hard work and commitment to the job – none of this could happen without them and every one plays an important part. I took this photo of Charlotte and Carl who were both in a 6.30 this morning at Castleton, getting everything done before Christmas dinner time.

imageGood luck to our owners with runners tomorrow and may all the horses come back safe and sound tomorrow evening.
