Sunday at Huntingdon
Phil has gone to Huntingdon with newcomer Soeur de Rois and with Adam still battered and bruised from his fall from Oscar O’scar at Wetherby, Sam Twiston Davies picks up the ride , she wont lack for assistance in the saddle. Phil is worried the softening ground will have gone against her but the decision has been made to make a start with her and let her run. She would be one from the last crops of top NH sire Kings Theatre. Good luck to her Owners who have been patient with this good looking mare.
No winners at Wetherby but Dr Irv pictured below made a fair start to his hurdling career staying on up the straight on ground that would have been a bit dead for him. His jumping warmed up throughout the race and Henry was happy enough with him. He may have another run before a winters break. embsay Crag ran a big race for Phil Dennis coming a close 3rd in the competitive 2m4f handicap. matthew Riley was brought down when just feeling the pace on his first run for a long time. Henry is not having much luck for us yet but it wont be long before he gets his first winner for us, he would have gone so close on Everaard had he stood up at Carlisle. Master Moon ran a nice enough race at Ayr for 4th in the bumper on his racecourse debut, and Oscar Oscar was running a big race at Wetherby the previous day before uncharecteristically running out at the 2nd last hurdle when not having much room. He looked sure to be in the shake up- all pointers that suggest our winter team are in good shape.
Everaard with Sue Foster who had him looking immaculate.
Irvine Lynch’s black and white colours worn by Henry Brooke on his way to a busy paddock on Charlie Hall day.
Our daughter Izzy bringing the saddle to the pre parade ring.
Its been a beautiful day up here in the North Yorkshire Moors and we have a full house at present, 14 in and some still out in the fields but due to be in for the winter by the end of next week. Some photos from our home yard at Castleton, taken today.
