Worcester Winner – Lady Buttons

open day 6

She makes a wining hurdles debut – well done to jockey Adam Nicol & Owners Keith & Jayne Sivills with their homebred mare.

This is how she schooled before the race at home:

lady buttons paddockThe build up was nerve wracking as we knew this was an important day – all the jumping lessons had been done and she seemed in great order. Celtic Agent had ran well at Cheltenham on Saturday and we saw a  promising racecourse debut from Give him a Glance some 30 minutes earlier when finishing 3rd in the bumper. Clearly our NH team are in good form, but we still needed to watch her go and do it – and she won in style, making all and battling well in determined fashion in the last furlong. She and the 2nd came well clear.  The Racing Post comment in running  reads:

Made all, sent 6 lengths clear before 3rd and increased advantage after 5th, given breather before next, driven and held on gamely from last, enterprising ride (op 5/4)

Both Givehimaglance & Buttons seem fine after their run and are currently on her way home. Sarah Olley led them up and they looked immaculate as always.

Earlier News:

Its a tense build up for us as Lady Buttons makes her hurdle debut. First and foremost a good safe round of jumping is wished for, and hopefully she will show the level of ability that saw her win two bumpers and 2nd in the Listed mares at Aintree. Phil has rang me walking the course, he says he hardly dare watch! She is potentially very high class and we have the whole family back at home – we own the dam in foal to Robin des Champs and The Sivills have her 2 year and and yearling half sisters.

Update this evening.
