Today sees the debut of Andrew Birkle’s 3 year old son of Proclamation, Legal Advisor, he is a strong individual who goes nicely at home and we would be hopeful of a promising debut. He runs in the three year old maiden at Carlisle and is against some pricey sorts, there looks one standout filly in the race who was second in good company on her debut.
Rumble of Thunder is other other runner, one of the stars of our yard- he heads to Newcastle for the staying handicap and will appreciate this sounder surface. He is a model of consistency and was just touched off at Ripon latest by a horse that reaposes him today. Russ Kennemore is back in the saddle and he will be keen to make amends for that defeat.
Eltheeb travelled like the winner for much of the race at Carlisle yesterday but didn’t just find enough and was beaten only a length and a half for 3rd in the valuable £18.5k handicap, a good run and he looks to be of a winnable mark when everything comes right. Just Paul finished 7th in the Carlisle Bell and he looks in the grip of the handicapper at present although he wasnt beaten far.
We have lots of runners coming up in the next few days, a team of four entered at Uttoxeter on Sunday when we see the second start over hurdles for Perennial. Its also the second start for the grey filly Forgiving Glance at Southwell, she ran a promising debut over 7f at Musselburgh a fortnight ago.
Its only a couple of weeks until we see the reappearance of one of our favourite horses, Goldan Jess. Now 10 years old, Jess has won lots of races on the flat and over hurdles for us and although he is off a career high for both codes, it would be a brave man to say he wouldnt win again! He will reappear over a distance on the flat and if all goes well he will run again over hurdles on safe ground.
Pictured here is recent Hexham 4th Hail the Brave having the ice treatment with our superb ZAMAR machine, an invaluable piece of equipment that we use every afternoon on any knocked or swollen joints. He received a knock in his race and this is much more effective and less time consuming than hosing.
