Friday at Aintree
Aintree winner
‘Rumble of Thunder’ ridden by Adam Nicol for the Well Oiled Partnership
A brilliant win this evening for the ever consistent Rumble in the valuable 2m4f handicap , a great result for the yard and all concerned. Adam gave Rumble a superb ride and it must have been very satisfying to beat AP in a driving finish. Looking at those plaits he looked amazing as well hope he won BTO to keep up our good record.

Celtic Agent ran a really good race in the bumper, only beaten a couple of lengths for 3rd with a penalty. This was a good race and the ground was just a bit on the quick side for him , he would have been helped by a stronger pace as well. He is a really good horse to look forward to novice hurdles with next season, and has a real engine according to Phil. The Agglestone Rock half brother, Lowcarr Motion ran with plenty of promise in this hot bumper, the first time he has been off the yard and he travelled well to finish in 6th, he looks capable of going close in a lesser event if Phil can find a nice opportunity for him. It was good to see him run, we have suffered the extreme disappointment of our 8x winner ‘Aggie’ breaking down again this week, the tendon going again after a piece of fast work despite every effort to bring him back to full race fitness as slowly and carefully as we could. Lauren had been doing a brilliant job riding him every day and he was in great form just weeks before his big comeback. He has been officially retired and all we can do is now hope to recuperate him to have a happy retirement – on a personal level this was a family horse that we all couldn’t wait to see back on track. The dream has gone.
