Monday’s news

War Lord

Bank Holiday Monday … no runners but plenty coming up later in the week. We are looking forward to the likes of Istimraar making his debut for us at Chester, O’ly Roccs trying for a double at Kempton, Hail the Brave at Hexham, Noir Girl at Carlisle & Toola Boola at Kelso all in bumpers –  and Stormy Morning at Catterick for Ownaracehorse who had a very enjoyable Open Morning with us on Saturday – the sun shone  and we had a large crowd at Sharp Hill. If anyone would like to send me a photo from the morning it would be good to post it.

Saturday didn’t quite go to plan….Kate received a nasty kick on the morning and had to go to hospital but thankfully nothing is broken and she has suffered severe bruising – the danger of working with horses is always a risk. Then Rumble of Thunder tried to jump the front breast bar in the horsebox once loaded up for the races and was too sore to take his chance at D0ncaster which was most frustrating for all concerned. It was left to Perennial to represent us and he put in a solid effort, eventually finishing 5th but held in on the rail at a crucial time he could never deliver his challenge when it mattered. It looked as though he may have been a couple of places closer if he had got out in time but all were pleased with the run nonetheless.

Phil worked 3 year old ‘Lady Heidi’ amongst others on the Low Moor on Saturday and she did her best piece of work this Spring…everything is looking positive for a return to action for our star flat filly very soon.  He also took this photo of the new ‘Fast Company’ 2 year old colt for me – not the best  but as good as he could get whilst on horseback! he is a good size and a lovely mover.

imageThis is a horse who is a real favourite on our yard at Castleton – ‘Moscow Presents’  – he stands like this a lot, in the stable of the field – he just loves to leave his tounge sticking out and can stay like that for half an hour!

I took this video on Friday of Platinum and Full Speed out to grass – Full Speed just wants to eat, Platinum the joker is trying to make him play! The sedative to stop them running does not seem to be affecting my horse very well, he just cannot help himself! Click the youtube link to watch his antics….

Ex-Racer news;

Word of Warning is going well ahead of his big qualifier next Sunday, both Phil and i rode him yesterday and he was went lovely – as the judge has to ride them in the ring, Phil was back on him to get used to long legs on his sides now he is ridden in a different way. Its hard to believe he last ran at the end of October, he has altered shape so much and has really adapted to life as a show horse. below is a short video:

I have been sent lots of photos recently on our ex-racers, here is Western Trigger who has just gone to his new home with Naomi Silvestre, he looks a happy boy in his new surroundings.

I was also sent these lovely photos of ‘Captain Kinka’  who never ran for us but we still owned for a short while – he is doing very well in showing classes and has a wonderful forever home with Mo Rushton.
