Musselburgh Races- winner!
It was a fantastic win from Rumble of Thunder at Musselburgh today…a superb ride from Adam saw him cruise round in 2nd, jumping beautifully and kicked on to score in ready fashion. It was particularly good to see following his time on the sidelines after a horror fall at Marken Rasen last year when brought down through no fault of his own. Rumble hurt his shoulder badly that day and it took him quite a while to get over it…he has been steadily coming to hand this season and with the ground quicker than on his two previous starts he was seen to much better advantage here and took home a nice prize. With no penalty for this success (it being a conditional race) , if all is well he will be entered again soon to take advantage of his mark, as he remains on this handicap mark until next Saturday’s entries are made.
The horses are hitting top gear and we have 3 winners now in a week. It might have been a quieter Christmas period but we didn’t have many runners with the ground being so bad and while the winning figures went down a little , so many were placed and we had some very close 2nds.
Dr Irv and Just Paul come back into cantering work tomorrow, we boxed them to Sharp hill this afternoon – they have been with Leanne and Niall Hannity for the winter and Leanne has done an excellent pre-training job with them, they look in great order and seem well refreshed and settled.
Lady Heidi has been on her best behaviour back at Sharp Hill and has started light riding work. I will be bringing you photos of her soon, and Phil is pleased with her attitude now she is back in a routine, she loves to be out being ridden again.
Apologies if some of you are having trouble watching the videos..I am told sometimes they work on ipads, sometimes not, They can nearly always be seen on a PC. Not many views for the DBS sales video, it can be viewed on this link if you missed it and it is also on the videos page with all the others over the past year.
Here is a photo of ISTIMRAAR at Sharp Hill taken today – gorgeous boy just like his Uncle Platinum.
Good luck to Rumble of Thunder today as he bids to make it our fourth winner of the year for The Well Oiled Partnership. Its a competitive handicap but the ground is better than he has had recently and we dont think her will mind the 2m 4f trip, despite the commentators suggesting he doesn’t stay! Check back in later for a update, meanwhile Phil and I are on a horse shuttling day as we take Noir Girl and Dibble Bridge to Middleham to start their canter work and bring a couple of resting horses back home.
Recent runners Pass Muster, Factor Fifty and Moscow Presents are all fine.
