Musselburgh Races

pass musterSo close! It looked as though we were about to get our first winner on the board for 2014 as Pass Muster jumped the last in front under Adam Nicol at Musselburgh in the third race but the ground  and his 15lb handicap rise for the previous win has just put paid to his chances and he just didn’t quite get home as well as the winner in the conditions. This was a creditable effort, the pair came well clear and another good run from him after a win and a second so far this winter.

We will be relying on Burns Night to notch our first win of the year  – 2 seconds in the last three days so far! (Phil really doesn’t like 2nds…) and again, he would prefer better ground but has run okay on soft. He sulked when held up last time so I expect he will be a bit closer to the pace and hopefully he can put in another solid effort as he had been a model of consistency all Autumn. This is likely to be his last run before a winter break as he has been ‘on the go’ a good while.

All three runners from New Years Day are fine, and so is Jawaab who ran another good race yesterday for 2nd under our Amateur Jockey, Philip Dennis at Southwell.  Jawaab is an old favourite and he just found one too good, a young improving horse we have (frustratingly) looked at twice at the sales and have not bought!

No runners now over the weekend, we have entries next week at Southwell and Wolverhampton, and sure to be some later for Sedgefield as well which could see the first appearance of Agglestone Rock’s half brother, the cleverly named LOWCARR MOTION (his Owner lives at ‘Low Carr’) . We also have his  full sister waiting in the wings, and she is for sale if anyone wants a nicely bred 2 year old NH store.

Lowcarr Motion leading, Hail the Brave in the hood behind him.
