What an amazing run from Stopped Out at Haydock , he almost beat the favourite and he stuck his honest grey head out all the way to the line under Russ Kennemore. A frustrating second at the massive odds of 16-1 but he is obviously in great form and will be heading for another decent prize over hurdles soon.

Sr Swing was pleasing with her debut at Redcar, she stayed on under pressure and will have learnt a lot from this first outing.

Stable Star ‘Stopped Out’ runs late on the card at Haydock today. the race looks really competitive but he will have come on for his reappearance and is set to give a good account of himself for his Partnership – Russ Kennemore rides , he has to hot foot it from Redcar where he rides the homebred SR Swing in the first – this good looking bay filly is out the same dam as our recent winner, Embsay Crag. This is her racecourse debut, the price reflecting this at 33-1 and she is the only filly in the race but hopefully she will show potential for the future and make a good start.

War Lord made a sound start to his hurdling career with a third at Uttoxeter yesterday, his jumping was a bit novicey but this was only to be expected and he kept on well. It was disappointing to see Word of Warning fade at the end of his race as he had looked to be enjoying himself out in front, but his good form is all on better ground and he will be heading somewhere with a sounder surface on his next start. On a positive note his jumping was very good for Adam yesterday, hopefully when he gets his ground we might see a better result.

We have two new horses in the yard this week – the French bred Nik Nak for the Bethell family, and the all weather mare, Marmot Bay who has joined us from Kieran Flood’s.

Lady Chap was weaned from her filly foal on Wednesday, she is now out with her yearling sister but will be coming into a box shortly and be regularly handled, all have enjoyed a nice summer out.  The broodmares are now being barned for the winter and enjoying having their rugs off and being out of the rain!  We are expecting foals from lPickworth, Lady Chap, Hula Ballew, Royalty and Show Potential. Lady Chloe is going in foal next year – quite a little band!

I received the news today that I have been nominated for an owners Prize at the Northern Jumps awards for Platinum on the flat – and The Well Oiled Partnership have been nominated for a jumper in Stopped Out. What a nice surprise, a chance to get dressed up at this Black Tie Affair the night before the Fighting Fifth Hurdle race at Newcastle in November.

Platinum is most sadly on the ‘hopsital wing’ at Dibble Bridge as a result of his run at Newmarket, he will be quite a time off the track, all we can do is hope he makes a full recovery – but hasn’t he given us a memorable season.
