Fri 17th March…

We may not have improved our Cheltenham form of 3rd, 4th and 5th and came away with a PU and a 7th this time, but both riders and horses gave it their all and it was a cracking day for PKR to be at the Festival. Joe said he was made up to have had the chance to ride in the Champion Hurdle as many jockeys never get the privilege – memories to last a lifetime, but we arn’t finished yet Joe!!!! We will be back! It goes to show just how ultra competitive these races are, literally THE best horses in the UK and Ireland, they take no prisoners and there is something really special about taking part and being there to see it all.
A few pics of our day…..

Phil with his Trainer-in-the-making daughter Indy – a firm believer that much more can be learnt at the Festival than in a classroom, and we have to agree!

Who’s the guy in the middle?!!!

Ben ready to go with Katie, Indy and Isobel

Nobody could fail to be moved to see Honeysuckle (below) bringing it home with Rachael Blackmore for the Henry De Bromhead family in the mares hurdle on Tuesday. A very poignant win for the Bromhead’s following the tragic loss of 13yr old son Jack in a pony racing fall last year. Very much deserved.

Honeysuckle & Rachael Blackmore

Joe back home on his ‘Honeysuckle’ aka Lone Star, going great and all set to head to Musselburgh next Friday for the Lady Buttons series final.
Todays Runner….

Noonie with Phil
We have Noonie running at Doncaster today in the mares maiden hurdle with Tommy Dowson on board for owner the Earl of Ronaldshay. This will be her first run since joining us and she has had wind surgery since her last run. It will also be Noonie’s debut run over hurdles so we will be hoping for a nice introduction to the jumps for her following schooling nicely at home. Best of luck to her and all connections for a great day and safe return home.
Madi’s first winner!

Last Friday was probably the best day our apprentice Madi Patzelt has had for a while as she rode her very first winner! It was on board Caracristi at Wolverhampton for owner Ace Bloodstock with the win just pinched in the last stride before the line. After having some painfully close misses on PKR Club horse Billian with a head and a nose it will no doubt be a relief to finally get the win. Well done Madi, hopefully the first of many! Here is her post race interview….
Foal news….

The cute face of Lady Chloe’s Logician filly, we think she will have a striking resemblance to her big half-brother My Strong Man – below with Simon

We have also had the safe arrival of Marmot Bay’s colt foal by Harry Angel in the early hours of Thursday morning – pics to follow.

Simon’s 4yr old Jack enjoying a school strike day with a bit of tractor driving. He has no desire whatsoever to go anywhere near the horses, but loves getting in the tractor with daddy!
