It was an impressive close 2nd yesterday for Lord Torronaga’s chasing debut with Ross Chapman (above) at Hexham. There were a few novice looking jumps en route, but overall a top performance for only a 2 length defeat at 20-1. An encouraging start for him and owners Harry Stephenson, Lynne Rutherford & David Barlow.
On Monday we saw a good effort from Misscarlett on the soft ground at Perth for 2nd with Brian Hughes on board for owner Joyce Porter. Previous to this last Thursday Leopold’s Rock justified his favouritism with a very smooth performance to win at Sedgefield by a comfortable 3 and a half lengths. Under a perfectly executed hold up ride by Brian Hughes they made headway before take it up at the last and pulling clear on the run in. Congrats to Torside Racing and all connections! Also a HUGE thank you to his owners for the lovely hamper of sweets that promptly arrived…

Red Force One – a winning day at Redcar back in July
Red Force One heads to Uttoxeter today to try his hooves back over jumps. Up against the likes of Donald McCain and Nicky Henderson charges he will need to be at his best. Although the handicapper catching up with him was possibly showing on his last effort (on the flat), he has had a fantastic summer with a hat trick of wins and many placings, so with his fitness most definitely at its peak, he may just pull it out the bag over the jumps. Fingers crossed the ground dries up a bit, ridden by Joe Williamson claiming 5 for owners The Yorkshire Puddings, who will no doubt be having another great days racing – Good luck & come home safe!
