Fri 2nd March…

iciclesWe are lucky racing goes ahead at Southwell AW today with all other meetings having been abandoned with the freezing conditions continuing to take charge. Its a day of ‘jumpers bumpers’ thankfully hosted by Southwell following all the bad weather in an effort to get some NH horses back in action.

Shine Baby Shine & Jo

Shine Baby Shine makes a bid to make it 3 from 3 at the track, with the fancied Magic Dancer one of the 3 non-runners – leaving it a 4 runner field. Track and trip in her favour she remains in good form at home, good luck to her ridden by Adam Nicol for her partnership fronted by Davy Gray.

Nautical Nitwit

Nitwit will be making his fibresand debut at Southwell today after a lifetime of having hurdles infront of him. He faces only a 3 runner field and they look to be closely matched. If he takes to the lack of hurdles and the surface, hopefully Nathan Moscrop’s handy 5lb claim can give him the edge. Good luck to him and his owners Birrafun2.

Hangard & Peter

Hangard also makes his first outing on the fibersand today and only has a field of 4 to compete with. He was a first time out bumper winner so may enjoy the return to the flat, ridden by Adam Nicol for owners Daniel & Sarah Blake. Good luck to him and all our runners, riders and owners today – come home safe.

New faces….

We have a couple of new faces of the equine sort joined us over the past week. Firstly was I’m Yer Man who has joined us for owners the Birrafun partnership (Nitwit’s owners). He is a 3yr old flat horse who looks to be a nice progressive sort with the latest of his 5 starts a wining one and a couple of very near misses.

I’m Yer Man

We also had 5yr old Macardle join us from Ireland, a bumper horse by Beneficial – sire of our highly talented Lady Buttons. Purchased by Les Richards to replace his unfortunately injured Pineapple Crush.

New Partnership horse Show Promise for ‘The Philip Kirby Partnership’ is well into his training now and Phil has had a sit on him himself and said he is a gorgeous horse and likes him a lot – high praise!
