Thursday’s news – 2nd again!

Bertie Blake with Julie yesterday

We had the agony of yet another 2nd yesterday with Bohenagore trying his heart out from the front at Uttoxeter but having to give best to the Jonjo horse who was always travelling sweetly behind him coming to the last. This was another solid performance from this tough little horse who likes to dominate, and his jumping was much slicker than last time at Sedgefield. Adam gets on well with him and he deserves to get his head in front – let’s hope the handicapper doesn’t put him up again for another 2nd ( he went up 6lbs for his Sedgefield 2nd). This game is an expensive one and Owners need the chance to get some first place prizemoney at this level.

Reviewing the previous runners, there was no luck at Thirsk but Minstrel Royale pleased us with 3rd at Stratford, and he will improve for this first outing for us, Phil has a 2m7f planned for him next time, and he looks a good fun horse for the winter, bought for small money. He is a half brother to Barber’s Shop and has the physique to match but his jumping action is more suited to hurdles and he will remain in this sphere for now.

It’s a schooling morning today for the novices at second lot, and today we will see Bertie Blake, Wemyss Point, Mangata & Northern Girl in action.  I took a short video yesterday of. Mangata & the young grey ‘Baracalu’ which is loading now. Here are some photos from the gallops…

Two recent re-homings have gone really well and yet again we are seeing the talents of former winners in different spheres. Whitchurch has taken to dressage like a duck to water and he won his first competition at the weekend, not bad for a horse who was racing a couple of months ago. Below the photos of him you will see the grey Art History who has gone to a super home with Laura who hopes to  show and dressage with him after a winter break.
