Little Bruce wins at Ayr

We were delighted with Little Bruce’s second win in a row at Ayr yesterday, and Adam gave him a patient waiting ride to pounce late up the home straight and win in progressive fashion. He is barely 15hands but skips over his hurdles efficiently and it is likely we will see him out again soon if he recovers well from this race, as he is a tough little customer who takes his racing well. Little Bruce was broken in by us and its great to see the young ones go and progress to win like this – we have a lot of young horses in the yard and plenty like him we are excited about. Suggestion is another smart young horse who although faded late on in the bumper under his penalty, ran a good race up front and he will be winning more races, he is still quite immature and was racing from a long way out yesterday. Transient Bay is fine but pulled up after getting tired, we will see if anything comes to light in the next few days.

kelly with North Island

Today we have Rocky Two and Cavalieri at Newcastle, and North Island up at Musselburgh for our new Conditional , Tommy Dowson claiming 5. Tommy is in great form after a win at the weekend, and North Island is another young horse we have broken in here, and while Phil has heard it is a red hot bumper, we like our horse and are sure he will run a nice race for the future, he has an interesting mix of flat and jumps in his pedigree and should appreciate this sharp track.  He has done plenty of homework and is ready for his first outing although it is likely he will have a short break now after this as surely we will see some proper winter weather and winter ground soon!

Closer to home at Newcastle there looks like being plenty of pace being on up front and this is exactly what Cavalieri needs to be seen at his best, he could never get into the race last time. He is bouncing at home and we are hopeful for another big effort from this dual recent winner. Rocky is an enigma who has more ability than he shows at the track and a change of tactics may be in evidence today to freshen him up and try something new.
