Stenna wins at Ayr

Transient Bay may only still be rated in the 90’s but his three wins over hurdles this winter have really lit up our National Hunt Season and  he looks every inch a progressive novice chaser for next year. We already know he jumps a fence well. Adam gave him a lovely ride and there was no stopping Stenna as he turned for home and powered up the home straight. Phil won’t decide if he runs once more this season or not until we see how he comes out of this race, what the handicapper does, and which races are suitable. If this does happen to be his final start until next season  it will be a good note to put him away on. Julie had him looking immaculate in the paddock as usual and a good crowd of his Owners were there to cheer him home.

This horse is an absolute gentle giant as our 7 year old daughter Indy can prove! He is one of the most polite horses up the gallop and would have made a great hunter if he hadn’t improved out of all recognition this year.  Stenna is by local Yorkshire stallion Trans Island, although Phil went to Ireland to buy him…..apparantly the sire’s stock are not known for being so big so it must come from his Dam’s side.

Just looking at our WIN strike rate this season it is looking pretty good – 29% chases, 13% hurdles and 10% bumpers – and with luck Tara Time will be improving that bumper strike rate as she is a very nice mare who will be running at Sedgefield or Southwell.

Looking to the future we are also really pleased to bring you the news that Lady Chloe has had a healthy bay colt foal to Authorized ( sire of the Triumph hurdle favourite) . Three foals, three colts so far – and four last year! Just Lady Chapp to go now but not until mid April.
