We saw another good performance from our exciting novice chaser ‘Courtown Oscar’ yesterday at Wetherby under top jockey James Reveley – going on a circuit out and apart from one novicey error, jumping well and drawing clear up the run in. His Owners Nobaj ltd have an exciting horse on their hands, he has a real ‘look at me’ attitude and walks around the paddock as if he owns it as you can see from the photo below. Kelly that is leading him up with Megan came in on her day off to work at Wetherby and its team work like this that gets the results.

They went a good strong pace yesterday, and while there wasn’t much strength in depth in the race, he won in good style, and this is valuable experience for him as he climbs up the chasing ladder. Perhaps one day he might even be an Aintree horse – he has that look about him and stays well.

James on Stopped Out.
Also at Wetherby we had Stopped out and Woodpole Academy. Monty travelled well througout but got a bit tired on his return to action, keeping on in his usual gutsy style on for a mid field position, and Woodpole again did not finish his race and he is now being sold privately to go eventing.
At Wolverhampton last night we had a beaten favourite with Cavalieri, but we were certainly not too dissapointed with him, he was placed again in a hot race that was perhaps not run to suit him,being held up off a slow pace and developing into a sprint up the home straight. It was a long drive back for Simon, hopefully he will have won BTO for his efforts , as usual Cavalieri looked immaculately turned out.
We were very suprised to see that Kelso was deemed fit for racing at the 7am inspection, and this means Sam and Sarah will be about be there now with Cleve Cottage and Bold Henmie for a cold and blustery days racing. With further rain last night its going to be very sloppy ground – Bold Henmie still looks high enough in the handicap judged on his first run in handicap company, and Cleve Cottage will need to have come on a lot from his first run to figure, and may yet need some more help from the handicapper to recapture his respectable bumper form. He’s had two years off and they don’t all come back but he looks the part and his first run will have blown some cobwebs away.
