This evening we have two runners in one race at Doncaster – Perennial (Daniel Tudhope) whom we think a lot of and hope he continues to develop into a high class handicap stayer and novice hurdler this summer – and also yard stalwart, Rumble of Thunder (Russ Kennemore) who has been having such a consistent season, 1st, 2nd, 2nd and 2nd on his last four starts over hurdles in good company. Rumble may have the edge on fitness as Perennial is having his first start of the season but either one winning would be great. We would like the ground to dry up a bit and then it will suit both horses – the sun is shining and its sure to quicken up by early this evening.
We were absolutely thrilled with the win of Just Paul yesterday at Musselburgh – winning the big race of the afternoon and looking as though he could still be on the upgrade. He has now won 6 times for Owners Paul and Jean Chapman and hopefully more to come, he seems to love Musselburgh as much as we do. Cavalieri is fine following his run, the slow pace didn’t suit from his position in the race and there will be other days for this likeable gelding.
