Fri 21st July….

Its a busy day today as the last bits of tidying up are done ahead of our first PKR CLUB Open Day of the summer tomorrow. The place is looking blooming lovely with all the flowers around that are looked after by club members Chris & Christine Duke who do a top job keeping them all alive!!!

Its fantastic to see the many messages already posted on the PKR CLUB Facebook page about how much some of you are looking forwards to your visit, we hope we don’t disappoint and the weather holds up, although you shouldn’t come to Yorkshire without being ready for a spot of rain! Here is Pippa’s latest on whats going on tomorrow….

“Hi everybody, We haven’t had much rain today & there is only light showers forecast ahead of Saturday, but it is looking a little wet with light showers forecast for morning at present on Saturday. Blinking typical! I think we will have a contingency plan and probably park on the grass Gallop as opposed to the field, it is much drier, and we do not want to have to be towing people out! I wish we had enough hardstanding for everybody, but we just haven’t. Look out for your email on Friday explaining exactly where we are going to park as we will have to look at directing everybody a slightly different way in, but it won’t be any further to walk. We are really looking forward to seeing you all, I wish to add that you are most welcome to bring a guest, and if you bring a couple of guests , we are not going to mind ! Much prefer not to bring dogs, unless absolutely necessary, as they can spook the horses on the Gallop. There is much work going on at the yard with our annual major tidy up, we always enjoy getting it shipshape for everybody coming. The Top Cat beer is arriving on Friday, and Indy’s sandwich boxes have arrived! There will be cheese, ham or egg mayonnaise on white or brown bread at £1.50 cash pls. There will be an excellent hot drinks van, selling cakes and pastries as well, and they take cards. Megan Dent photography will have her stall here, and I know you are all going to be armed with your phones and Cameras to get plenty of photographs too”

The day will commence with club horse Green Oaks Top Cat (Molly) going out on the gallops for you to watch her exercise along with the other horses. Billian and Martalindy are currently on their hols but will be in stables tomorrow for you to see. Other horses will be paraded later in the day to include yard favs like Top Ville Ben, Red Force One & Lone Star to name a few. There will be Equicizer demo’s, a quarter marking demo, a chance to see the racing tackroom with its very unique stairs hand painted by Katie with many of our owners colours. Also a tour of the fields with the mares & foals will be on offer, and the club merchandise will be available to purchase throughout the day.

REFRESHMENTS – There will be a speciality coffee, tea and hot chocolate van with pastries and cakes to purchase, and Indy is also having her own stall with home-made sandwiches at £1.50 cash per pack. There will be CHEESE / ham & egg mayonnaise in white or brown bread. If it looks like being warm we will also have ice creams to buy & keep you cool

Top Cat & the original Top Cat cant wait to see you all….taking it easy saving his energy for hosting his ‘party’ tomorrow!

We were very lucky to receive some sweet treats courtesy of James & Margaret Tortorella to celebrate their purchase of a 3rd share in Bushypark – thank you very much, it didn’t take long to clear the table of it at break time!
