News Catch up and Winners…

Lord T & Autonomy at Southwell today

Apologies this is a belated write up…not since Grand National Friday have I posted on here so there is plenty to write about; we have had the excitement of Aintree with Top Ville Ben jumping round well, a superb flat win by SKYCUTTER at Ripon, and close 2nd from Lord Torronaga but he put that right with a good win today at Southwell for The Lord Torronaga P’ship.

lovely words by one of Lord T’s Owners, Harry
Skycutter feeling proud after his Ripon win, he has plenty of options

We enjoyed a double this afternoon – both winning rides came in the hands of the excellent Hollie Doyle – AUTONOMY was her second winning ride for us, and this was a pleasing win for connections who have been very patient with him after returning from injury. For those who like a fascinating fact – Autonomy shares the same dam as Derby winner and top class sire, AUTHORISED. Wouldn’t we love to run him over hurdles but having had problems through his career we do have to be careful. Let’s hope he can have a clear run now and we can see how far he can go as he has plenty of talent. We so nearly had a treble today – tough customer BUSBY carried out on his shield at Ayr – just beaten a neck in the dying strides – his win and place ratio is very impressive and he doesn’t seem to know how to run a bad race.

Busby still smiling after his neck defeat at Ayr

Hopefully there will be further improvement to come from Fircombe Hall & Mr Mcall who also ran but unplaced, and perhaps a return to the AW with Smart Boyo who disappointed on grass at Ayr, he seems to reserve his best runs for the sand or tapeta.

At the weekend we watched two good comeback runs from Billian at Haydock and Ice Pyramid at Wolverhampton – the latter especially so considering he was returning at 7 years old in a 0-105 flat handicap having only being dropped 3lbs for 691 days on the sidelines! With legs like glass but a turbo engine he was a close 2nd in this hot little contest and we are pleased to report his legs have come out of the race well. Let’s hope for more classy efforts this Summer from him and Billian in the same Ownership. Ice Pyramid was a £30,000 ex Godolphin 3 year old at the sales, it was pleasing to see him beat the £325,000 Godolphin 13/8 favourite into 3rd….
