Monday’s yard update

Dark skies at Catterick today

We’ve seen torrential rain, hail & thunder today at Green Oaks, challenging working conditions for our Team. It was a nicer night when I took these two videos last week…

Winfola and Little Miss Moo ran this afternoon at Catterick and had pretty dire conditions as the storm passed over. Little miss Moo ran pretty green and she’ll be dropped back in trip on better ground for another start, and also back in trip will be Winfola who ran a better race for 5th, pleasing her Owners and giving them something to look forward to when conditions are in her favour. She needs some give underfoot.

We had some lovely news a few days ago from Millbry Hill Stud – Lady Chloe has safely delivered a huge bay filly by Milan, both doing well. Chloe is having a year off breeding so isn’t visiting a stallion this year. We are looking forward to her coming home in a few weeks – she will join the 2 fillies already here of Musikhani & Marmot Bay.

This big filly is called ‘Desi’ after Des that we lost last week

The re- surfacing of the gallop is going really well thanks to lots of extra hard work. The entire woodchip gallop is being replaced, including new stone and membrane – a costly and time consuming job but it was time for renewal. Phil, Simon, Victor & Henry have been very busy after hours….

Another week and it will be complete. The horses are working well on the sand and outside gallops while it’s completed, and the winners continue to come so it seems to be suiting them. We saw a good debut 2nd from CARLOS FELIX at Chester on Saturday.

Ahead of our first PKR Club day on July 3rd, the Camelot filly ‘Lottie’ has been officially named ‘Happy Go Lottie’ following a vote. This was a popular choice and a clear winner once all the votes were counted up. we look forward to her making her debut sometime next month.

We have seen some new horse arrivals over the last few weeks, pictured below is CAMMIE who makes his debut for us at Ripon on Sunday, and Phil purchased a well bred KENDARGENT gelding at Tatts , ‘EVERETT’ for a new Partnership, he has only ran once and could be an interesting prospect. Those of a certain age will realise why he has been given the stable name of ‘Kenny’ 💃🏻 A couple of weeks ago we saw the arrival of a new flat pair ‘Trevoli’ and ‘Enya’s Light’ who will be running soon, and another new horse is on its way from Ireland to join our team and will be here in the early hours.

Our daughters have been busy competing and enjoying competition again… here is Izzy (15) in action last weekend qualifying for Hickstead in the Schools Arena Eventing Champs on her teachers horse, ‘Bella’.
Grey ‘Piper’ who recently celebrated his 20th Birthday ( doesn’t he look well!) has already qualified so this was a pipe opener for him ahead of the final at the end of May.
