We have a day at Ascot & Newcastle – and a great for NH fans today with some top class jumping action on TV at Ascot & Haydock. The ground will be soft enough for Louis Vac Pouch but he’ll be trying his best down there in a competitive race, Will Kennedy rides as Tommy is currently having treatment on his shoulder. Louis will be relieved when Spring arrives and some better ground & weather!
The novice DIAKOSAINT keeps him company on the horsebox and although will find this NH novice company hot enough in the last, it should be a good experience for him – he needs a handicap mark to be truly competitive, and a fence in time.
Madeeh has a good chance at Newcastle on the AW, he didn’t have much luck in running last time and has been performing well all winter.
It’s Michael Mount’s racing debut for us and he’s been off a long time. He’s been a capable flat & hurdle performer in the past for Ian Williams and the main result will be sound tomorrow after his first start back. Best of luck to our Owners today.
Some photos & videos from the yard over the past couple of days – we’ve seen a combination of gale force winds & sleet one day to blue skies & frost the next – plus an incredible amount of rain. It’s tested our Team to the max but they are a tough & determined lot! We all celebrated our Yardman Keith’s Birthday yesterday.
That dreadful weather was on Thursday and I hope we don’t have too many more days like it. The video has had more than 12,000 views on Facebook.
Phil, Issey & Joe had Lady Camelot, Show Promise and Sunset West at the beach yesterday and Sunset West did his best to pull Joe’s arms out for an hour! Our horses are loving these beach trips… Included on the next outing will be My Strong Man & Little Bruce.
Our Team page has been updated today. We are shortly to say goodbye to young staff members Thomas & Maisie and we wish them the best of luck in their new positions. We welcomed experienced Jodie Hand back a couple of months ago, Megan Beswick who joined us at the turn of the year & and continuing the returning trend we are looking forward to having Nick Barret- Atkin back full time & Carolyn Woods part time in the next fortnight. We continue to enjoy many good jockeys riding out on a daily basis for us, and the saying ‘good riders make good horses’ is never far from Phil’s mind.
We are lucky to have such a huge jumps field and the horses love a day in here once a week, it’s great fun for them and has some steady uphill pulls.
