Thursday’s News

‘Bahkit’ & Tom Midgley

Last  night saw Iconic Belle & Tommy  go SO close at Perth, just beaten a neck giving away plenty of weight. This was an excellent first run for her new Owners but the drive was a long way back for Phil with a 2 instead of a 1 next to her name. She picked up decent prizemoney for second though and has plenty of options all summer, flat and hurdles. This is the Racing Post analysis….

No runners today but there is going to be a lot going on with the Mares moving to our biggest field and much swapping about of paddocks with the geldings. Victor has been creosoting the barns and they are looking really smart and Ashley was getting stuck in yesterday with the new power washer, we are doing one barn at a time and they are getting thoroughly disinfected and re painting traditional black and white on the inner walls. The next couple of days sees the arrival of an industrial mower from Ace Bloodstock and with our newly railed off front lawn it’s going to look pretty immaculate soon 😁

While we are having a quieter period we have been getting plenty of young ones broken in or long reining round the farm – one of these is the rangy 3 year old filly out of Dunaden, and there will be no mistaking her when she steps into the paddock at the races, she has a perfect love heart on her forehead.

Another youngster that has been learning the basics is this Soldier of Fortune 2 year old out of bumper winner, Molly Cat. She is a year early but big and strong and we like to do some long reining with the 2 year olds if they are ready.

She is now out in the fields though and looking so well.
