We had a brilliant result at Ayr today for our team and the Owners of Northern Girl – having bought ‘Janey’ as an unbroken 3 year old for small money at Goffs IRE it was most satisfying to see her gain her first win over hurdles after some good placed runs the last couple of seasons.
Tommy had her up the inside and her hurdling was gaining her a length or two all the time, jumping to the front a circuit out and maintaining her advantage all the way to the line. What a return for Tommy – 2 wins now in 2 days, long may it continue!
Watch her winning video below plus 2 of our other recent winners at the bottom of yoday’s News – I have just managed to load them all on to YouTube.
We also had Adelphi Prince in the Novice Hurdle today and he made a satisfactory hurdling debut, a few late errors just showing his greeness but he will have learnt from this experience and after two further outings he should be able to qualify for novice handicaps.
Tomorrow sees 2 runners at Sedgefield – the smart new Yeats 5 year old ‘Romeo Brown’ and the 6 year old Beneficial gelding ‘Bertie Blake’. Both should run well, although Romeo Brown has a pretty hot looking novice race to contend with. Sean Quinlan rides him, whereas Tommy jumps on board Bertie.
Attheraces verdict….
Just like Janey today, Bertie will be looking to break his maiden tag and has come close on several occasions, it’s surely a matter of time (and hopefully a matter of hours!). Good luck and safe return to connections of both horses, ( Bertie has several new Owners tomorrow and his Partnership is now full) 🍀🐎
