Friday’s News

Top Cat feeling left out…

Watch out Top Cat, Phil doesn’t Like 2nd’s… but he’s had 5 2nds out of our last 12 runners! Luckily we’ve also had 5 winners in the past fortnight or  he might not have any hair left….. Fingal’s Cave and Bertie Blake both gave our Team plenty to shout about today…

Fingal’s Cave – 2nd at Wolverhampton tonight

Bertie Blake – a close third in a blanket finish this afternoon at Newcastle with Adam

We also saw an excellent 2nd from Asum yesterday at Ayr for Tommy, and a battling 2nd from Dares to Dream at Kelso…. it’s a good job we’ve been having the winners too! Bertie Blake might have been third but we were particularly pleased with him this afternoon beaten only a length and a half, it was his best round of jumping to date and for the first time Adam reported that he would soon be ready to go and jump fences, his hurdling has improved that much. We’ll probably wait for next season to go chasing but he’s a progressive horse at the right end of the handicap and he’ll surely be winning soon. There are several shares available in his Partnership, please email pippakirby@icloud.com if you would like to get involved in this good looking young Beneficial gelding who has now ran well three times and is a different horse from last year when he was just weak.

Bertie will be out again over the festive period and he’s one who could be a Boxing Day or New Year’s Day winner.

Tomorrow is another busy Saturday with runners at  Wetherby ( Wemyss Point, Shine Baby Shine), Uttoxeter ( Northern Girl) and Wolverhampton ( Man of Verve). All have chances and with the horses in good form it’d be great to get another Saturday winner – flat or jumps.

Tommy & Wemyss

This is a cracking good photo by Alan Wright of Tommy winning with Wemyss at Wetherby a fortnight ago  – it’s the same track, trip and ground tomorrow but he’s 6lbs higher in the handicap. Wemyss will have a strong turnout of Owners at our most local Grade 1 jumps track. Shine Baby Shine runs in the same race and steps up in distance. This will be her seasonal comeback and her next target may be back into Mares handicap company as the programme for them is strong. She is a lovely mare who we feel is capable of achieving black type over hurdles in time.

Shine Baby Shine

Its am early start tomorrow as usual and it’s a schooling morning with the chase fences and hurdles being used. A video will be posted  of all the action. Amongst those schooling will be the novice staying chasers Topville Ben & Skipthescales.
