York & Macmillan Charity Race

Helen Hinton with Tekkibleu de l’Orme Who she is likely to be riding in the Macmillan Charity Race at York Today

The big day has finally arrived for Helen and Karen, they both line up in the Macmillan Cancer Charity Race at York this afternoon. It’s been months of training and riding out in all weathers and we wish them both every success and we would like to take this moment to thank those of you who have donated to such a worthy cause.

It promises to be an extremely busy day for our team with three other runners at York plus Hexham and Chester. We’ve been looking forward to the reappearance of lovely filly Rayna’s World, and she lines up against seasoned campaigner, Archiposs in the 1m 4f handicap at York. The big galloping track should suit both of them. We’re doing a rain dance and hope the forecast showers come early as they would both appreciate some more give. The same applies to Captain Bob who steps up a furlong over a mile and although is a big price he’s in good heart and has been second here before.

Up at Hexham we have Macardle for Owners Les & Mo Richards. This will be his final run before a break and we will be keeping a close eye on wether the short priced favourite runs as it won impressively at Aintree last night. Macardle has an  each way chance and he’s a good prospect for novice handicaps after his summer break.

Last but not least we have Fingal’s Cave at Chester, he doesn’t have a great draw which is always a nightmare round this tightest of tracks but for sure his Owners will have a good day out regardless of the result  as the Owners hospitality is first rate here – it’s worth having a runner for the dinner alone! Good luck to Fingal and all our runners today.

Yesterday we saw a decent performance from Jaycol’s Star at Aintree, he was 3rd in the Juvenile last night and beat the horses that had beaten him a Hexham. Good improvement and he can win one of these. The previous day there was another promising performance from Bakhit at Haydock having his first start for 9 months.
