Tuesdays News – winner!!!!

Shine Baby Shine – our impressive winner at Southwell yesterday

We saw a very good performance yesterday from 3 year old filly, Shine Baby Shine – coming clear of her field at Southwell over 2

Shine Baby Shine goes well clear

miles and showing what a nice  staying flat mare and potential  hurdler she can be in the future for her enthusiastic Partnership. There was much celebrating done last night at The Greyhound Inn, and let’s hope the handicapper doesn’t take this form too literally as they went very quick early on and we came from out the back after reserving energy early on. Patrick Mathers gave her a good ride and when she took up the running round the home bend she never looked like being caught. This was a really pleasing victory as Phil bought the filly as a yearling and he has  took  time with her, not running her as a 2 year old as she was big and backward, and being by the staying sire Aqlaam, we hope she can only get better now she has shown a liking for a trip.

Nautical Nitwit in a blanket finish for 2nd,3rd n 4th

We saw some other good performances yesterday – Nautical Nitwit may have been 4th but beaten barely a length by the 2nd horse, and this was a good run in hot company for a £25,000 prize. He continues to give a good account of himself off a career high mark but just needs a bit  of leeway from the handicapper to get back in the winners enclosure. The clear winner was out the handicap and ran off bottom weight.

Kaylen’s Mischief ran well at Ripon on his flat debut to finish 4th, and although he found the undulations of Ripon a bit  challenging, this was a sound first effort and he kept going all the way to the line.
