A long day up at Musselburgh today  with our two runners, Nautical Nitwit and Wemyss Point, no winners this weekend but all horses back home safely from today and yesterday at Wetherby . Wemyss ran  green and a bit lazily today but stayed on up the straight to finish his race well, beaten less than 9 lengths in a  hot bumper –  5 lengths behind the Nicky Henderson £125,000 purchased recent bumper winner. This should prove decent form and he will come on again for the experience.  Our bumper runner yesterday – debutante ‘Bertie Blake’ ran rather as we expected – travelling well but just showing some weakness up the home straight and he is going to be a stronger horse next year when he goes novice hurdling. He looked a million dollars in the paddock, and he will also have learnt a lot from his first trip to the races.

Next Edition ‘Eddie’ ran his usual solid race, Tommy thought he was going to be 2nd after the last but he just failed to quicken in the last 100 yards and had to be content with 4th of 9 and another trip into the  enclosure for his connections. Hopefully the handicapper may relent a little as he has gone up since his Market Rasen 2nd and not come down since!

It was a return to good weather yesterday at the yard after a pretty damp week…I took some photos of the horses in the school cooling down after exercise and we had a new arrival – the 3 time winner ‘Pullman Brown’  who will be part of the flat team for the summer.

We also had two well bred NH fillies arrive from Ireland who are for sale –  a 3 year old bay ‘Oscar’ half sister to the top class 159 rated  ‘Identity Thief’ and a Scorpion 4 year old who is a half sister to 4 winners. Please ring Phil if you may be interested and would like further details.
