Suggestion wins by a distance from his only rival
Suggestion did it in style today and a year long plan and great Team Work came to fruition! However, there weren’t quite so many rivals as we expected, three non runners

making it a field of just two at Southwell this evening. Adam gave his 4 year old a lovely ride from the front, and always had the favourite in trouble, being niggled at from early on while our grey lad was just in third gear. He put the race to bed nicely in the straight to win by over 40 lengths and had a good blow afterwards suggesting he will come on plenty for this, we always like to leave plenty in the locker with our nice young horses – these are our winners of the future. We have thought a lot of Suggestion for quite some time – he is beautifully bred so quite literally he ‘ could be anything’ and has the size and scope to back up his promise. He is likely to have one more bumper run before heading to the Cheltenham sales, hopefully with two 1’s next to his name.
Rocky Two that fell today is thankfully fine.
A welcome winning drink from his part Owner Phil – alongside the Nicol family.
Heading home – Rocky Two leaving Southwell thankfully in one piece
All of us at Philip Kirby Racing were very sad to hear of the passing of top Northern journalist, presenter and all round very nice man to know, Tom O Ryan, today. What a shock and we will miss him and his knowledgeable words on TV – he has done an awful lot for Northern racing and always championed the smaller trainer.
The sun was shining by mid morning at Green Oaks and I watched Enlighten Me flying up next to the Equiano filly who is next to make her 2 year old debut this week.
Chloe’s Image was looking well, back in full work….she is always stop start and has had a few leg issues but always seems to win when we can get her fully fit…it would be good to see her win over hurdles to add to her flat wins. She will make a very nice broodmare in time.

Last night it was the local ‘Scorton Feast’ featuring the Lead Rein and Under 12 ‘ Grand Nationals’ , our shetland Midge was duly loaded up and won his first race, Phil easing down over the second half of the course with Indy on the lead Rein. 10 year old Izzy got a great start on him in her first heat, coming 2nd in a fiercly contested affair! Phil later had to do the honours in the lead rein games as well.
