Sunday at Market Rasen

From a frustrating day at Haydock yesterday to a much better afternoon at Market Rasen and another win from Stopped Out in the five runner novice chase. Phil told me this morning not to be afraid of one horse, and he has been proved right with the Nicky Henderson gelding under-performing and our boy running his usual sound, genuine race, he really has been a star for us and previously for Kate Walton. James Reveley gave him a great front running ride, and he jumped soundly throughout, eventually winning by (about- I haven’t checked yet) 5 lengths. We wish we could clone him!!! Horses like him do not come along very often and he is a brilliant horse to train.

Monty comes home well clear

James Reveley and Stopped Out.

The bumper is yet to run so it would fantastic if we could get a double with Sakhee’s City for Keith and Jayne Sivills, he is a very promising young horse who Phil feels is improving all the time.

No foal news yet from Lady Chapp….it was almost warm today at Castleton with a springlike feel, i wonder if its the same in Ireland as it can often kick start the mares to foal with a bit of warmer weather.

Istimraar is fine following his run at Haydock yesterday. He wasn’t entitled to get close to the winner on ratings but we would rather have been 2nd than 4th and the slow early gallop didn’t help our cause as he was too free. He looked a picture in the paddock though, most irritated that we didn’t get BTO but well done to Charlie from George Moore’s whose horse sported quarter mark  ‘hearts’ on his hind quarters and on Valentines Day this proved a  winning tactic!
