Two days, two runners – Oscar O’scar at Newcastle who ran well under top weight for third, looking like
catching the winner until he dived at the second last. He was giving the first two plenty of weight and it was a hard ask on that ground.
Cathedral was disappointing tonight at Wolverhampton and its a long way back for Julie who is boxdriving. he didn’t back up his novice hurdle form, which thankfully has been very good to date with two seconds. Both horses are fine, and we look to catterick tomorrow for our next potential winner – but will it be on? Looks doubtful… snow on the ground and another frost this evening.
We had a nice covering of snow today, and it was snowing hard at Middleham by lunchtime too. Can’t beleive it couldnt school as a result – the weather keeps thwarting us, but Phil entered him at Carlisle in a novice hurdle – his first entry for the Philip Kirby Racing Partnership. Yesterday James Reveley came in and he schooled Aniknam (entered Sandown Saturday and hoping for rain) and Bruce Almighty, the new Yeats gelding. Both went well, this was Bruce’s first schooling session for us.
Two broodmares have left us this week to where they are going to foal – John Hanson’s Marmot Bay who boards at Dibble Bridge (a former racer for us) left to go to Rosyground stud to foal before visiting new stallion Garswood. Lady Chloe left yesterday to go to France, she is going to the home of the top class ‘Authorized’ a very smart husband for her. Hopefully she will deliver the Shirocco foal safely there. We still have Helen Wood, Pickworth, Epicurean and Royalty at Dibble Bridge.
