Further frustration at Newcastle yesterday with another 2nd to add to our tally from Dr Irv who ran a very sound race but just found one of those ridiculously well handicapped Sir Mark Prescott horses in his way.  Irv has been so consistent all season  and he really tried here but just did not have the pace of the winner in the final half furlong.

Splash of Verve got a bit tired on the rain softening  ground but looks as though his opening handicap mark is a bit stiff, and Stormy Morning ran a good race for 5th staying on all the way to the line over a trip arguably on the short side for him.

W e did however have THREE best turned out prizes, our horses as usual looking oustanding in the paddock. Thanks to Sue and Julie for their efforts.

No runners today, next ones on Friday. Yesterday i met the vet to chip the Josr Algarhoud colt foal out of Show Potential. He is a half brother to our chestnut bumper prospect ‘Improved’ who is entered at Worcester but wont be going as its a really hot race. The new colt is a very dark brown, one of the last by Josr Algarhoud as he died last winter- he is an under- rated stallion who got lots of winners, two of ours being Agglestone Rock and  Acknowledgement.  He was only born on the 24th of May so he is not a bad size and a nice quality foal.  This week were are weaning Helen Wood’s and Pickworth’s foals, and we also have due to come back in the next 6 weeks the Hula Ballew filly by Equiano from Rathbarry Stud in Ireland.

These two are a couple of smart three year olds , Sakhee’s City (first one) and Warrior Jack by Coroner x On the Up. They will be ready for juvenile bumpers around Christmas time. And  Phil sent me these photos yesterday from the schooling lane at Middleham yesterday – off the back of his horse. Henry Brooke was also saying hello!
