Its Newmarket sales tomorrow and Phil is having a day there, work all completed on the catalogue. he is looking forward to comparing the size of our foals at home to those on offer, its a mixed sale of broodmares and in-training horses. Tomorrow evening also sees the return of our favourite ‘Goldan jess’ owned by ‘The Jessies’, Colin Fletcher and ourselves. This is what happened the last time Jess went to kempton…a 25-1 all the way win under Adam Kirby when outsider of the field.
Another of our old boys returns to action off the back of a win on Thursday – Jawaab runs in the 2 mile Amateur handicap at Doncaster, also 10 years old now and a recent 19 length Hexham scorer over hurdles. We dont want any more showers as he prefers it quick, and Philip Dennis claiming a handy 5lbs already knows him well. He must have a decent chance for Owners Gareth Fawcett and Dave Hopper. Sleeping Apache also runs on the same card – another recent winner for us and a nice young horse who looks on the upgrade. This will be his first step into handicap company and we will see if the handicapper has him about right or not!
Before that we have the consistent 3x winner ‘Dr Irv’ running in the 8 runner 2 miler at Catterick tomorrow – he is priced up as 2nd fav with Attheraces, and as long as it doesnt come too quick following his good 2nd to Hot Spice last week, he should give another good account of himself. Hopefully the showers have not dwelt over Catterick for too long this morning, it was extremely wet at Castleton. Our second runner tomorrow is ‘Mysterious Wonder’ who has being coming to hand well and shouldn’t be too long before chalking up another win for his Owners, The Well Oiled Partnership, he is 8-1 in this 12 runner field and Phil Makin rides.
This week also sees the Great Yorkshire Show debut of our girls, Izzy and Indy, riding in the lead rein and first ridden classes. Its been a lucky show for us in the past, hoping for more luck on Thursday for them!
